Dr. Vanessa Orta joins the Vision Is Priceless Team
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Vanessa Orta!
Dr. Orta has volunteered with Vision Is Priceless since 2015. As a member of our Volunteer Vision Network she helped ensure children and adults in need in our community have access to vision care. We are excited to announce that she will now be taking on a more permanent role on our team! Dr. Orta will be dedicated to our rapidly growing Sight in Schools Children’s Vision Program. She will be providing comprehensive eye exams to low-income and underserved students while at school.

Dr. Vanessa Orta is a Florida board certified licensed optometrist. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Zoology from the University of Florida, a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Florida, and a Doctorate of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University. She has been practicing optometry since 2005.
Dr. Orta spent her first two years practicing optometry at a private practice in Boynton Beach, Florida. She moved to Jacksonville in 2007 and spent two years working for a retail optometry practice, where she performed ocular heath exams and prescribed glasses and contact lenses. In 2009, Dr. Orta began working at a Lasik eye surgery center, and worked there until summer of 2022. While at the Lasik center, she performed pre-operative and post-operative care for Lasik surgery patients. While at Lasik Plus, Dr. Orta was part of their Optometry Advisory Board, which was composed of five optometrists throughout the nationwide company. Dr. Orta also served as a teacher for “Lasik University,” an internal training tool used at Lasik Plus.
Dr. Orta has a passion for volunteer work. While living in South Florida, she volunteered weekly as a Zoo Docent at the Palm Beach Zoo. She has done a variety of volunteer work for the Junior League of Jacksonville, including programs to promote healthy eating habits in children and teens, as well as programs to help teens transitioning out of foster care. Dr. Orta has also volunteered her time as an optometrist for the Sulzbacher Center Eye Clinic and served as a member of the Vision Is Priceless Volunteer Vision Network since 2015. She is an active member of the Northeast Florida Optometric Society and served as President of the organization in 2015-2016.
Dr. Orta grew up in Miami and loves the warm weather in Florida. She has two young daughters and loves watching them learn and grow. In her free time, Dr. Orta enjoys spending time with her family, running, and being outdoors.
